Welcome
Don't you think we lead one-of-a-kind lives? Think about it - when was the last time your non-military friend or sibling had to plan a coffee, plan and attend an FRG meeting, scout out locations for the upcoming Battalion ball and start pulling together moving plans as the two-year Army PCS mark was just three months away (all in the same week, right)?
As this is the official beginning of our relationship, let us first introduce ourselves. We are collectively "Pearl and Mercedes." We have a combined 47 years as active duty Army dependents. WHOA! We are not that old - we've added active duty childhood years into the mix. We have actively procreated (fun, fun, fun!), and we love our children, but - thanks to modern science - there will be no more of that! We have accumulated a number of degrees - including undergraduate and graduate degrees - from three continents (with all diplomas proudly displayed on our "me" walls - for Mercedes, the side wall in her closet right behind her long-sleeve shirts).
The love and support we feel for our husbands is overwhelming - mostly because it is sometimes overwhelming to support and guide them (familiar?)! Did you know how much energy you would devote to the "volunteer" side of the Army when you tearfully (and quite excitedly at the time!) said, "I do!"? Well - we didn't! Nonetheless, we happily volunteer and enjoy almost every experience we have to meet and work with other Army wives.
Let's kick off this journey together - and, as you read this week's blog, we think you'll hear a small voice in the back of your mind, saying, "That happened to me too!".
-All the best,
Pearl & Mercedes

Ladies, I just found you through milblogging and I love your site/blog. Looking forward to what's to come....I certainly resonate with what you are saying and you say it so well! Thanks for putting a voice to our experience as military spouses.
